Being Thankful

From the desk of Evangalist Mary Osborne

I was just thinking as I sat down to write this message about how blessed we are to be Christians today.  Here we are, nearing an election and living in a world where a lot of countries do not have this privilege.

I suppose my message for today is simple, we should be a thankful people.  I am thankful each day I get up, I can open my Bible and I can read God's Word, some people do not have that choice.  I am thankful each day I can make my own decisions, go where I want, talk to whom I want, and go to the church of my choice.

If these things were taken from us for just one day, it would change a lot of things.  I remember as a child when I was doing something wrong, Oh, at times I was spanked, but nothing hurt me as much as taking my privileges, when I was told I couldn't do things I wanted to do.  I sometimes wonder what will happen when people continue to be disobedient to God and if He should elect that any time to take our privileges.

We need to begin to think about these things, and hold them dear.  Men and women fought with their lives and lost lives, to assure this nation of our rights.  Jesus gave his life for ours.

Lets remember in November and get out and vote.  This is our privilege, our heritage.  Lets not take it lightly, lest at any time they should be taken.

Lets be thankful today, for all we have. Amen.
